We are looking for a full-time psychiatrist to provide psychiatric health care services consistent with the philosophy of American Indian Health & Services. Provides psychotherapy services, medication management for PCP’s and participation in developing the Integrated Behavioral Health Program at AIH&S.GENERAL DUTIESEvaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.Assess and screen patients by conducting psychiatric evaluations, including interviews, medical histories, physical exams, observations, and psychological testingAnalyze data and results of assessments to diagnose patientsPrescribe and administer medications according to diagnosisMonitor patients to determine efficacy and potential side effects of medicationsDevelop a treatment plan, measure progress against the plan, and make adjustments as neededProvide crisis intervention as neededCollaborate with a broader team of physicians, psychologists, and nurses to assess and adjust treament plansCoordinate and communicate with case managers and other stakeholders about treatment and careResponsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term psychiatric issues.Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance), JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), and state regulatory standards.Maintains BLS or ACLS certificationExcellent knowledge and familiarity with current DSM criteriaParticipates in chart reviews and auditsAssist and prepare for the program review by funders including the Indian Health Services, State Indian Health Program, Local Managed Care program.Participate in committees such as Quality Improvement committees.Provide in service education with staff as needed.Cultivate a knowledge and understanding of Native American culture.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONSGraduate of an accredited medical schoolCompletion of a residency program in psychiatryLicensed to practice medicine in the State of CaliforniaPrefer Board CertificationPrefer experience in an Indian Health Care or community health care setting.Spanish speaking preferred but not required.Salary Range for this position is $300,000 - $350,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
